Conshohocken-based smart grid company Viridity Energy hired Laurie Actman, a former helpmate to Mayor Michael Nutter’s green city initiatives, as director of government relations and business development.
Viridity supplies large energy consumers with tools to increase energy efficiency and decrease energy costs.
“Companies like Viridity Energy allow cities and mayors to achieve policy goals while also reducing energy and operating costs,” Actman said. “That’s especially important right now as all levels of government have constrained budgets but still want to produce real benefits for their constituents.”
Actman helped Nutter to launch Philadelphia’s first sustainability office and to develop the city’s long-term green targets, known as the Greenworks plan. She most recently helped the Nutter administration launch the Metropolitan Caucus, which was Nutter’s regional engagement effort to convene elected officials from suburban counties to pursue shared policy and political priorities.
