Chief Executive Officer
Mack Treece joined Viridity Energy in November 2012 as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations of Viridity, including marketing, operations and finance. Mack brings to Viridity Energy over 20 years of experience in senior management positions, with a specific focus on successfully scaling young companies into dominant market positions.
Previously, Mack was the CEO and co-founder of ConnectFN and was responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the company. Prior to ConnectFN, Mack served as President for Teliris, where he led the telepresence provider’s Global Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations.
Prior to Teliris, Mack was responsible for the North and South American operations of Orange Business Services (OBS), a provider of advanced global IP and data services for multinational businesses. Mack also held several executive positions with increasing responsibility at OBS (formerly Equant) including Senior Vice President – Global Business Operations and Services, Senior Vice President – Partners and Channels, and CFO – Network Services. As a critical member of the team that took Equant public in 1998 in an IPO, Mack was a catalyst in growing the business from $200m in revenue to over $3b by 2002.
Mack began his career with Bell Atlantic, where he last held the position of Global CFO for Bell Atlantic International Wireless (BAIW) and Senior Vice President for Asia. He held several positions of increasing responsibility in his career with Bell Atlantic, including M&A, finance and operations positions. He has lived and worked abroad as part of global organizations for more than 25 years. He has a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Virginia and a MBA in International Finance from Widener University.
Mr. Chudgar brings extensive experience in the wholesale (operations and markets), TDSP (Transmission and Distribution Providers), demand response, and retail energy space, and has lead numerous client projects covering all aspects of system and lifecycle development, ISO development and wholesale energy business solutions. He has spent more than 20 years in the electricity market and utility business with a focus on software development, renewables generation, market strategy, and Smart Grid solutions. He has spent nearly 20 years working with end use customers, regulatory bodies (PUCT, FERC, ERCOT), and deep background in retail, wholesale, T&D, and regulatory affairs.
Mr. Chudgar holds Bachelor and Masters of Engineering degrees in Chemical Engineering from the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville (Kentucky). He has published a number of technical articles, white papers and presentations on implementation best practices in energy procurement, and has been a distinguished speaker on solutions and market trends at several technology and engineering conferences.
Chief Technology Officer
Scott King leads Viridity’s technology software development, architecture, cloud and on-premise infrastructure platforms, and oversees product direction. Scott brings over 20 years of professional experience and leadership in energy, commodity and financial trading software, quantitative data analysis, wholesale power and natural gas markets, and production system support and controls. With a focus on efficiency, optimization, and automation, he has lead successful teams and initiatives in equity trading, data and software architecture, Agile implementations, cloud migrations, and decision support.
Scott originally joined Viridity in 2016 as Director of Software Platforms; prior to Viridity, Scott worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch with a focus on market data architecture and trading application support, and Hartigen Solutions, where he was lead architect and developer for the cloud-based RTO/ISO transaction management and decision support software PowerOptix. Scott also served as Head of Trading for Koch Industries’ private investment fund, where in addition to responsibility for daily trade execution, he worked as a financial data analyst and substantive contributor to quantitative equity long/short trading models and research.
Senior Vice President, Law and Public Policy
Allen Freifeld joined Viridity Energy as Senior Vice President, External Affairs in June 2009, after twenty five years of regulatory and industry experience including five years as a member of the Maryland Public Service Commission from 2004 through 2009. During his tenure on the Commission, Allen led the effort to enhance participation of energy efficiency and distributed resources in regional markets.
Allen served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Mid Atlantic Distributed Resources Initiative and was also a founder of the Organization of PJM States, Inc., a group of fourteen State Public Utility Commissions working toward regional solutions for electric grid issues. Prior to his appointment to the Commission, Allen served on the Staff of the Commission for over twenty years both as a Hearing Examiner and as Chief Staff Counsel. He also served as chief regulatory counsel for MCI Telecommunications in the mid‐Atlantic region during the period following enactment of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
Allen is a graduate of SUNY Binghamton, with a degree in Economics, and the University of Maryland School of Law.
Vice President, Finance
Mr. Haiat joined Viridity Energy in August 2017 as the Vice President of Finance. He is responsible for all day-to-day financial operations of Viridity. Mr. Haiat brings over 15 years of experience in senior financial management positions, mainly within the energy sector.
Previously, Mr. Haiat was the Director of Finance and the Risk Manager of Ormat Technologies Inc. Prior to Ormat, Mr. Haiat served in several financial positions in Israel Natural Gas Lines Ltd., most recently as Director of Finance.
Mr. Haiat is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a MBA in Finance from the University of Edinburgh Business School.
Chad Von Eck
Vice President, Energy Storage Delivery & Operations
Chad Von Eck joined Viridity Energy in 2011 to manage innovative sustainability-oriented solutions in a growth market. He is currently responsible for advanced asset management, system integration, and field engineering for Viridity’s growing energy storage and demand response portfolios.
Prior to Viridity, Chad served ten years at PJM Interconnection in Market Operations and PMO leadership roles with a focus on innovation. He is well versed in the economic, regulatory, technology and operational underpinnings of the evolving electric grid. Chad originally developed his business and technology management capabilities at Cisco Systems in demand planning and sales operations functions.
Chad earned an M.S.E. in Technology Management from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Scranton. He leverages professional project management certifications from the Project Management Institute and Stanford University in his daily work.
